YOUNG MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR COMPETITION

The 2010 Competition takes place on SATURDAY 27 NOVEMBER at Polam Hall School, Grange Road, Darlington

Since 1994 the Rotary Clubs of Northallerton (District 1040) and Darlington (District 1030) have combined to organise an annual Young Musician of the Year competition.

Although initially conceived only for pianists, after the first couple of years it was widened to include classes for orchestral strings and woodwind/brass as well.

Youngsters aged from 8 to 18 compete in 3 different age groups throughout the day, and the 9 class winners play in a Gala Final the same evening.

This year’s Adjudicator is Joan Dixon, a highly experienced Associated Board examiner from Wakefield.

The winner last year was
Harriet Bradshaw (piano)
